Schala followed along silently, still contemplating what she had seen, and what it meant.

She had a lot of questions, and didn’t know what to ask first.  However, Alfador had decided for her, and she nodded in agreement.

“You said 1000 A.D., but what does that even mean?  If this is the future…”  She trailed off, not wanting to continue that train of thought.

Magus halted in his march and immediately turned around.

Hmm, they cut right to the point. I guess I finally have to explain myself.

“The time period is 1000 A.D, we’re exactly 13,600 years into the future. As you may or may not be aware of, our beloved Kingdom fell out of the sky and sunk underwater. We’re in a world so many years ahead of those events, people don’t even remember the name of our Kingdom.”

Magus continued to walk then proclaimed ” You’ve both met Crono, Frog, and even attended that gathering Ayla had. Where did you think they were from? Our kingdom?. I know this is all new and very confusing however, with time this knowledge will become second hand to you and it will all make sense.” 

He had fallen a bit behind because of his stature and had caught up just as Magus had begun to explain.

Alfador slowly sat back on his haunches as he let Magus’ words sink in. Fell … fell out of the sky? He stopped listening and his eyes glazed over as he tried to process the impossible information. I know Schala said that whatever happened at the Ocean Palace was horrible and catastrophic, but I had never imagined that both Mount Woe and Zeal would fall … I suppose that would be what made Janus leave- voluntarily or not. But … If was he sent through time because of whatever Lavos did … Does that mean that Lavos is connected to the gates somehow? And wouldn’t that mean he is still at large?

“Okay … Let me make sure that I am hearing this correctly. Zeal doesn’t exist soon after my time? As in the whole island, not just the kingdom?” Alfador looked up to Magus for conformation, his eyes betraying his utter disbelief and shock.

Magus was sure they would be at Truce in no time. However, things had oddly gone silent.  ”Do you guys have any questions about where we are? I’ll answer them now.”

He briefly thought over what to ask Magus first. Yes, where are we? Which continent, which village, heck, what time period are we in? He decided to go with the last one, it seeming most important for now.

“Yes … What time period is this …?”
